Privacy notice
How BuyByDate collects, uses and protects your personal information, under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who is responsible

What we collect
- Your name, email address and cellphone number, and a scrambled copy of your password that cannot be turned back into it.
- Your orders: what you bought, where you chose to collect, amounts, and the payment reference from our payment provider.
- The collection point you prefer and the deal alerts you ask for.
- Reports you send us about an order, and our replies.
We never receive or store your card or bank login details: you enter those with our payment provider. When you use Find collection points near me, your location stays on your phone and is not sent to us.
Why we use it
- To process and hand over your orders, send collection codes, tax invoices and order updates, and answer your reports.
- To send deal alerts, only for brands and categories you choose. You can stop them at any time on the Alerts page.
- To keep accounts secure and prevent fraud.
- To keep the records that tax law requires.
Who we share it with
- The collection point you choose sees your name and order, so it can hand it over.
- Our payment provider processes your payment.
- Service providers that host the website, store data and send messages for us, under agreements that protect it.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
Suppliers see what sold, not who bought it. We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
Order and invoice records are kept for as long as tax law requires, currently five years. Other information is kept while your account is open, and removed or anonymised after you close it.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it where we are not required to keep it. You can object to us using it for alerts. To do any of these, contact us at info@buybydate.co.za or 073 780 3476.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
